Lungvandawt

Lungvandawt, literally meaning 'a stone reaching heaven', is a tall chiseled pillar made of stone. It is situated between Biate and Lungdar, in Aizawl District. Biate and Lungdar are at distances of 211 km and 225 km from Aizawl.

This stone memorial is believed to be of a chief of the Biate tribe. Legend holds that in ancient times, this stone was extremely tall touching the walls of heaven – hence nothing could go in between. Once a peacock squeezed into it and got crushed into pieces.
