Losoong

The Losoong festival in Sikkim marks the end of the harvest season and the end of the tenth month of the Tibetan Year. The highlight is the Chaam dance at the monasteries at Palace (Tsulakhang), Phooding and Rumtek. Archery competitions and other games and festivities also mark the event. Men become gods during the dances and don attires with mystical symbols. The dancing symbolizes exorcizing the evil spirits of the dying year and welcoming the good spirits of the New Year.
