Losar festival is commonly celebrated in the areas in Himachal Pradesh
, which borders with Tibet. Losar marks the beginning of a new year.
The people light lamps in front of the family deity, Kimshu, and meet all their dear ones on this day. Darshid songs are sung early in the morning and people do not step out before midday.
A unique feature of the fair is the platter arranged with Brang-Gyas, which is a square lump made from mixed flour and sweets. The statues of deities placed around the platter are adjoined with figures of domestic animals especially ibex. The things filled in the platter are odd numbered. It is regarded highly auspicious to see this platter filled with statues and figures in the early morning.
