Lord Varuna

A Vedic God of the Hindus



Lord Varuna is the one who surrounds the whole world and is one among the oldest Vedic deities. Personification of the sky, he is also associated with clouds, water, rivers, and ocean. He is the sustainer of live by providing rain and crops. He has thousand eyes and oversees the whole world. In some temples he is depicted as riding on a crocodile. He is pictured as riding in a chariot drawn by seven swans and holding the lotus, noose, conch and a vessel of gems, with an umbrella held over his head. Some times he carries a serpent also.
