Likir

Lu-Khyil



Likir, also referred Lu-Khyil, is a beautiful village located near Saspol in Leh District of Jammu and Kashmir.

The main attraction of the place is the Likir Monastery. This monastery was founded by Lama Duwang Chosje in the year 1065. The huge yellow statue of the Buddha is worth visiting.

Likir is also a favorite area for the trekkers. Most of the trekkers camp here after the trek from Leh. A trek from Likir to Temisgang via Rhidzong is an excellent experience.

Likir can be accessed by a travel of 6 km to the north of the main Leh-Srinagar highway from Saspol. Regular bus services are available from Leh.
