Lepchajagat




Lepchajagat, also known as the gateway to North Bengal, is an eco-tourist destination in the district of Darjeeling in West Bengal. It lies on the road connecting Darjeeling (19 km) with Mirik.

Located on a hill slope covered with rhododendron and oaks forests, Lepchajagat offers a rich diversity of nature. The town of Darjeeling is visible from this place and an illuminated Darjeeling in the night makes an eye-catching view. The sight of the sunrise over Kanchenjunga is awe-inspiring.

Lepchajagat is a nice peaceful location and is ideal for honeymooners. The ideal season to visit Lepchajagat is from October to May. Accommodations are available in West Bengal Forest Development Corporation bungalow.

Lepchajagat can be approached on the Ghoom-Mirik Road. Ghoom Railway Station (8 km) is the nearest railhead. The closest airport is at Bagdogra.
