Leimapokpam Keirungba Temple

Leimapokpam Keirungba Temple is a south facing temple situated in the compound of Manipur State Road Transport Corporation, Imphal. Leimapokpan Keirungba constructed this temple in 1875. Even though it is not used now, the temple is treated as an important monument of Manipur.

The entire structure of the temple is made of bricks. Standing on a distinct platform, it is a square cube in shape. The replica of the shrine with stupi is placed on either side of the semicircular arch, which lies in front of the temple. The cornice is attained by giving different layers of bricks. The barrier made of rails lies above the cornice. The facade wall, below the cornice and in the railing, shows a progression in art expression.

The garbh griha (internal sanctum) of the temple is square shaped. Pradakshina path is reached out through arcades on east and north sides and through the arch gate from the front side.

Imphal is about 215 km from Dimapur. The nearest railhead is Dimapur Railway Station.
