Leibakngou-manba




Leibakngou-manba (Artemisia maritima Linn) is a scandent shrub that grows extensively in Senapati District of Manipur. It belongs to the family Wormseed.

The leaf juice is used in acute stomach pain. Smashed leaves are used to relieve abdomen and forehead pains. The flowers produce a commercial ingredient, santonin, which is perfect for intestinal parasites. Bark has antiseptic properties. A decoction yielded from the shrub is recognized as a febrifuge.
