Lalit is a kind of folk drama prevalent in
Goa. This style of drama, combining social themes with entertainment, is presented in the temple premises during festivals. The artists don various costumes and present the characters one encounters in daily life. The social tone of the drama is mixed with interludes of entertainment to attract the mass audience.
Lalit is more popular in Sanquelim in North Goa District. The performances are usually held during the Datta Jayanti festival.
