Lakshminarayana Temple

Lakshminarayana Temple is in Ananthakrishnapuram village, 8 km east of Tirunelveli on the northern bank of the River Tamiraparani. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

The temple has a pillared hall that lead to a low-ceiling mandapam, with a sanctum for the presiding deity. An outstanding Nayak sculpture, the main deity holds the conch and discus on his upper arms and is seated with Goddess Lakshmi on his left lap. His other arms hold Goddess Lakshmi and are in the Varada mudra. There are also shrines for Thayar, Andal, Nammazhwar and Ramanuja. A parade deity of Venugopalan is also found.
