Lakkidi




Lakkidi is a village situated 10 km east of Ottapalam in Palakkad District of Kerala. It is around 30 km west of Palakkad, the district headquarters. Ambalapara, Mannur, Mankara, Palappuram and Keralassery are some among the places bordering Lakkidi.

Killikurrussi Mangalam of Lakkidi is famous as the birth place of Kunchan Nambiar, the18th century satirist and founder of the Ottan Thullal (a typical solo-dance form). His house is preserved as a monument by the State Government.

Lakkidi lies on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River. Sri Vilwadrinatha Temple (at Tiruvilvamala), while located in the neighboring Thrissur District, is just on the other side of the river.

Lakkiti Railway Station, on Shoranur-Palakkad rail route, is the local railhead. The nearest airport is C A Coimbatore Airport. Buses frequently ply from Lakkidi to Palakkad and Ottapalam.
