Lakhnesar




Lakhnesar, a sub-divisional town in Rasra taluk of Ballia District, is named after Lakshman, the brother of Lord Ram. According to legends, this place was visited by Lakshman, who built a temple in honor of Mahadeva (Lord Shiva). The remains of this ancient town can be still seen on the banks of the Ghaghra, in the form of immense piles of ruins.

Rasra Railway Station and Varanasi Airport are the nearest access points for Lakhnesar.
