Lachari is a style of folk song popular in
Uttar Pradesh. This song is usually sung by the women folk, but occasionally men also participate in the singing. There is no particular theme for the song.
Lachari style of singing is believed to have originated in the court of Wajid Ali Shah, during the nineteenth century. This style later gave rise to the more popular Dadra and Thumri songs.
