Kuttiatoor Sivakshetram




Kuttiattoor Shivakshetram is an ancient shrine situated at Kuttiattoor, a beautiful hilly area in Kannur District. Kuttiattoor is around 22 km north east of Kannur.

The temple was established by Khara Maharshi, a sage who destroys sins. It is among the famous Shiva temples of Kerala. Besides Shivling, the idols of Lord Ganesh, Lord Ayyappa and Lord Vishnu are seen inside the sanctum.

There is a holy pond, situated 50 meters below the ground level, in the premises. Nellu Nira, Puthari, Navratri and Shivratri are major festivals celebrated in the temple.

The famous temple of Parassinikadavu is only 12 km away. Kannur Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
