Kushana Stupa

The remains Kushana Stupa, locally known as Jarasandha-ka-Kila, is situated at Assandh, about 45 km north-west of Karnal, in Haryana. The remnants of the stupa, which still rises to a height of more than 25 m, indicates that the originally stupa might have been a very gigantic structure.

The stupa features a circular drum with an elongated dome. The core, filled up with earth and brickbats between the walls, form the spokes. About 44 courses of a circular wall were noticed in an exposed section.

The excavations, done near the stupa site, have unearthed several archeological remnants including Kushana coins, pottery and other relics.

Karnal Railway Station, on the Delhi-Ambala rail route, is the nearest railhead.
