The town of Kurukkuchalai is located in Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu. It is nearly 15 km north-east of Tuticorin and 14 km south of Eppodumvenran. Tharuvaikulam lies to the east and Korampallam and Ayyanapuram to the south.
The historic place of Panchalankurichi can be accessed easily from Kurukkuchalai. Ottapidaram, known for a peacock farm (Tharakan's Mayura Thottam) and the house of Chidambaram, is within a short drive. Ettayapuram, Kovilpatti and Kazhugumalai are places of interest nearby.
