Kunkeshwar Temple




Kunkeshwar is a picturesque seashore and an important pilgrim center situated about 20 km from Devgad, in Sindhudurg District of Maharashtra. The place is noted for the elaborately carved Kunkeshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Kunkeshwar Temple, built around 1100 by the Yadav rulers, is a fine example of contemporary sculpture. The temple was visited frequently by Chhatrapati Shivaji. It shows the influence of Konkani culture on its architecture.

The nearest railway station is at Nandgaon, about 36 km.
