Kunjaru Giridurga




Kunjaru Giridurga is a temple situated at Kunjaru, about 6 km from Udupi. The main deity of the temple is Goddess Durga.

The temple stands at the top of the Kunjaru hill and can be reached by climbing 257 steps. The idol of the temple is kept at a height of about 3 feet and it can be viewed from outside. It is believed that the temple holds about 12 Magane’s (groups belonging to particular area). So the temple is also called as 'Balisagara Magane.'

The main festivals celebrated in the temple are Dwajarohana during Magashudda Trayodashi and car festival on the full moon day.
