Kungdang Lum




Kungdang Lum falls on the eight month of the Chang calendar, which coincides with the month of April. Kungdang Lum is a five day festival of the Chang Tribe in Nagaland.

During the first three days, construction materials of field huts in Jhum cultivated areas are collected, and this area is tested on the fourth day. On the fifth day, the relatives go to the field and construct the huts. Thereafter, in the evening, feasting take place at home after they return from the fields. The sixth day is also kept for feasting. The seventh day is observed as ‘Aolaak Jaanbu’. On this day they plant a kind of tree which bear bunches of sour fruit.
