Kumaraswamy Temple




Kumaraswamy Temple is a small temple dedicated to Lord Muruga. Situated at Sindupoonturai near Tirunelveli, the temple dates back about 350 years. The deity, also known by the name Palayam Salai Kumaraswamy, is seated on a peacock along with his consorts Valli and Devayanai. The temple has separate shrines for Siddhi Vinayakar, Gajalakshmi, Chandikeswarar and Aneeswarar. Inside the prakaram there is a Mayil Mandapam. The annual festivals celebrated here are Skanda Shashti, Karthikai Deepam and Vaikasi Visakam. Others include Arudra Darisanam, Maasi Magam and Aadi Pooram. The temple can be accessed from Tirunelveli station by bus or taxi.
