Kudremukh National Park




Kudremukh National Park is located in the Western Ghats in the districts of 113764Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Chikmagalur, at a distance of about 180km from Mangalore. The park extends to an area of about 600 sq.km. The forest type is semi-evergreen. It is filled with large varieties of flora and fauna. The best time to visit the park is from October to May.

The major attraction of the park is the lion-tailed macaque. Other animals in the park include tiger, leopard, wild dog, jackal, common langur, sloth bear, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, Malabar giant squirrel, giant flying squirrel, porcupine, and mongoose. About 195 birds are present in the park, including Malabar trogon, great pied hornbill, Malabar whistling thrush, and the imperial pigeon. Various species of snakes and tortoises are also found in the place.
