Krishnapura Chhatris

Built on the cremation spots of the Holkar rulers of Indore, Krishnapura Chhatris are situated at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. These exquisite chhatris are built in honor of three later Holkar rulers named Maharani Krishnabai, Tukoji Rao II and Shivaji Rao. These stone memorials are gracefully poised on the banks of the Khan River. There is an artificial lake and a prayer hall with ornately carved arches and pillars. The garbha grihas houses life size statues of these rulers. The well laid gardens, on both banks of the artificial lake, offer a breathtaking sight.
