Kottige

Also Known as Megala Kottige, Kottige is a small village in Holalkere taluk of Chitradurga District. Bordered by Kabbala, Kelagina, Vaddara Hatti, the village is untouched by the ravages of tourism. Huli katte (tiger land) and the age old Maari Gudi Temple are interesting spots. The village festival is held once in 12 years and is in keeping with the traditions and culture of ancient Dravidian Karnataka. Hosdurga Road Railway Station, located 63 km from Chitradurga, is the nearest railhead. There is no bus route available into the village and the tourists have to get down at the bus stop between Hosdurga and Holalkere road and walk 4 miles through irrigated dense areca and coconut farms to reach the village.
