Koteshwar




Koteshwar is located about 8 km from Ambaji and 5 km from Kumbharia, in Banaskantha District of Gujarat. The place is famous for the ancient Koteshwar Mahadev Temple, located near the source of Saraswati River.

Legend has it that there was an ashram of Maharshi Valmiki, the composer of the great epic Ramayana, near the temple.

Shri Kumbhariyaji Teerth, Balaram-Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary and Ambaji Temple are other tourist attractions in and around Koteshwar.

Bhuj Airport serves Koteshwar. Abu Road Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
