Koorkancherry




Koorkancherry, also spelt Koorkenchery, is a village in Thrissur District of Kerala. It is a peaceful landscape of scenic beauty and lush green surroundings. The place lies about 2 km from Thrissur.

Koorkancherry is famous for a Shiva temple named Koorkancherry Sree Maheswara Temple. The temple idol was installed by Sree Narayana Guru, the well known religious and social reformer. Thypooya Mahotsav, a seven day annual festival, is held here amid much pomp and splendor.

The village can be easily reached from Thrissur Railway Station. The nearest airport, Cochin International Airport, is situated 58 km from Thrissur.
