Konnur is situated 11 km from Gokak on the right bank of the Ghataprabha. Numerous inscriptions belonging to the ancient period were found in this place. Earlier known as Kondanur, Konnur was the headquarters of Vishaya, as mentioned in a copper plate record of Kadamba Shantiverman and in another inscription dated Saka 955. Konnur is home to hundreds of passage chambers (Megalithic tombs) to the south of the village, over 5 acres of private land. The Megalithic tombs were called Pandava Houses and Munivasada guhegalu by the locals and Jains. An ancient Jain temple which has been converted into Parameswara Shaiva temple is also seen nearby.

Konnur Railway Station is the nearest railway station. Belgaum Airport is the closest airport.
