Kongunadu Cuisine




Kongunadu cuisine, a specialty of south central India, is named after the kingdom Kongunadu established over 200 years ago. This cuisine includes a wide range of recipes developed by the Kongu people. The name Kongunadu originated from the term ‘Kongu’, which means honey. Kongunadu delicacies include Pongal, Ven Pongal and Kalkandu Pongal, Rava dosa, Kootu, Ellu Urundai, Ezhanir Payasam, Pathanir Halwa, Karur Mutton Kuzhambu, Parrupu, Urundai Kuzhambu, Pallipalayam Chicken, Keeranoor Kuzhambu and Kari Meen Kuzhambu.
