Kom Tribe




Kom Tribe inhabits areas of Churachandpur and Senapati districts in Manipur.

They believe that their ancestors came from a hole in the earth or Kom. Their language is connected with that of Aimol, Koireng and Chiru. Koms have close relationship with the Hmar tribe.

They are identified from the black shawl with embroideries they wear. These tribes believe in Pathen. Literacy rate among the people is high and they are very active in political activities of the state.
