Kolletikota

An island destination in the middle of the famous Kolleru Lake, Kolletikota is a relatively obscure village located in Kaikalur taluk of Krishna District. Historical evidence says that Kolletikota was conquered by one of the early rulers of Orissa named Ambadevaraya. Jaladurga Alayam, an ancient temple, is the major point of attraction. The main festival of the temple lasts for 16 days. During the eleventh day of the festival, thousands of goat and sheep are sacrificed to the main deity. Celebrated in the month of Phalguni, this festival draws a large number of devotees. Kolletikota is accessible only by boat. The nearest airport is at Vijayawada.
