Kokkomangalam

Kokkothamangalam or Kokkomangalam is a scenic hamlet situated on the western shore of Vembanad Lake at Cherthala in Alappuzha District of Kerala. This place houses one of the two churches in the Arch Diocese of Ernakulam.

Tradition recounts that the apostle St Thomas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, who visited Kerala and set up 7 churches, consecrated a cross in this village. The cross was lost and was regained from Pallipuram and brought back to Kokkothamangalm where a church named St Thomas Church was built. People from different walks of life, irrespective of caste and creed, visit this ancient church.

Cochin International Airport and Cherthala Railway Station on the Ernakulam– Alappuzha line are the nearest airport and railway station.
