Kodumbalur, also known as Moovarkoil, is situated in
Pudukkottai District of
Tamil Nadu. It is about 36 km from
Pudukkottai and 42 km from
Tiruchirapalli. The place was the erstwhile seat of Irukkuvelirs, who were related to
Chola.
Of the three 10th century shrines built by Boodhi Vikramakesari only two exist now. The exquisite sculptures of Kalarimurthi, Gajasamharamurthi Ardhanari and Gangadaramurthi are interesting.
The Muchukundeswarar Temple situated nearby is worth visiting.
