Kodanad




Kodanad lies on the southern bank of the Periyar River, in Ernakulam District of Kerala. It was one of the largest elephant capturing centers of South India till 1977. Kodanad is 12 km east of Perumbavoor and 45 north-east of Kochi.

Kodanad's scenic high ranges are famed as the training center for elephants. Specially trained elephants provided with saddle are available for a comfortable safari. Mini zoo is an added attraction. The famous Malayattoor Church is nearby.

The nearest railway station is at Ernakulam, 30 km away. Cochin International Airport, 65 km away, is the nearest airport.
