Khir Bhawani Temple

Built in 1912 by Maharaja Pratap Singh at Tullamula in Srinagar District, Khir Bhawani Temple is devoted to Goddess Ragnya Devi. According to legend, during exile Lord Ram worshipped Mother Ragnya, and at the end of the exile period he desired Hanuman to transfer the seat of the divine Mother to Shadipora. Later, the seat was shifted to the present site as per Goddess Mother Ragnya desired and conveyed in a dream to one Pandit Rugnath Gadroo. Khir Bhawani Temple is located in the midst of a pond which is formed from the spring water which changes its color from time to time. It also has a gold-plated dome. People throng the temple during the annual festival held on Jesht Ashtami (May-June). On every Shukla Paksh Ashtami, second day of the bright fortnight of Kartika, devotees perform hawans to please the goddess.
