Khavda




Khavda is located about 80 km from Bhuj, in Kutch District of Gujarat. Situated near a desert land of infinite dimension, it is renowned as the largest Flamingo Colony in the world.

About half a million flamingos from hotter climates migrate here to breed owing to the watery expanse of this area. In addition to Flamingo, Putter Fish, Stork, Heron, Ibis, Pelican and Wader are some other migratory species spotted here. October to March is the best time to visit.

Khavda is also an ideal place to explore their traditional art, ornaments, clothes and utensils.

Flamingo Colony can be approached only on camel back from Khavda.

New Bhuj Railway Station is the closest rail junction. Kandla Airport serves Khavda.
