Kharar




Kharar, situated on either side of National Highway 21, is the gateway to Punjab. It is a sub-division town located about 27 km from Rupnagar, the district headquarters of Rupnagar District. Kharar is 15 km from Chandigarh.

Kharar has a rich religious and historical heritage. Major point of attraction here is the Samadhi of famous Jain Saint Nathu Ram Ji Maharaj and Nem Muni Ji Maharaj. Ajj Sarover, a large tank situated here, is traditionally associated with Maharaja Ajj, the grandfather of Bhagwan Ram Chander Ji.

Panipat Woolen Mills and Kharar Textile Mills, two important government establishments, function from Kharar.
