Khandavanadahanam

Khandavanadahanam is observed in the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple. Held in the Malayalam month of Dhanu, it commemorates the Khandavana forest fire of the Mahabharata.

During the ritual, a replica of a forest is created in front of the temple with dried plants, leaves and twigs. The forest is burnt during this occasion to symbolize the Khandavana forest fire. This bonfire is witnessed by thousands of devotees from all over Kerala.
