Khandagiri




Khandagiri is located off the National Highway 5, around 6 km west of Bhubaneswar, in Orissa. It is around 12 km south of Chandaka and 10 km north of Panchagan.

Khandagiri is renowned for the Khandagiri Caves, the 2000 years-old caves situated on the Khandagiri hill. There are 15 caves, of which some are natural and others are rock-cut caves. The hill offers panoramic views of the city of Bhubaneswar. The 18th century Jain temple dedicated to Lord Mahavir at the top of the hill is worth a visit. At the right side of the Khandagiri hill is Udayagiri hill, which also encompasses several caves.

Shri Aurabindo Institute of Integral Education is the main landmark of Khandagiri.

Bhubaneswar Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The closest airport is Biju Patnaik Airport.
