Khalasuni Wildlife Sanctuary




Khalasuni Sanctuary, about 50 km from Sambalpur, is located in the Rairakhol sub-division of Sambalpur District, Orissa.

It covers an area of 116 sq km of tropical moist deciduous and tropical dry deciduous forests. The sanctuary is home to tiger, leopard, elephant, bison, sambar deer, barking deer, spotted deer, mouse deer and wild dogs. Besides, rare varieties of birds and reptiles are found.

By road, from Sambalpur via Padiabahal-Meghpal. From Rairakhol, 50 km, via Naktideol-Girischandrapur-Kichinda. From Deogarh, 55 km, via Riamal-Naktideol-Girischandrapur-Kichinda.
