KFRI has a well-stocked library with a collection of books, journals and reprints of various scientific papers. Other facilities are herbarium and medicinal plant garden, insect collection, xylarium, wood treatment plant, mist chamber for clonol propagation of tree species and a centralized computer system with LAN.

Various projects on plantation forestry, natural forests, wood science and timber utilization, wildlife biology, and general, environment and fundamental studies are also carried out in the institute.
