Kayatar is a small town, situated at a distance of 25 km from
Tirunelveli on the national highway -
Madurai road. This is the place where Veerapandiaya Kattabomman, who put up a fierce fight against the British, was hanged from a tamarind tree. Kayatar is preserved as monument.
