Kawnpui is one of the sub divisions of Kolasib District. This town is on the National Highway 53 on the Aizawl-Silchar route and is close to Kawrtethawveng, which is 173 km from Aizawl. Shell limestone is the main mineral deposit found in the town. The nearest railhead is Silchar, 180 km from Aizawl.
