Kavasseri

Kavasseri is a village in Malappuram District of Kerala. The place entices the visitors by its panoramic landscape and historic importance. Gayathripuzha, a tributary of Bharathapuzha River, flows nearby. Kavasseri is about 5 km west of Alathur, on the Thrissur-Palakkad route.

The village is a cluster of six Brahmin settlements, which include Nellithara gramam, Oattupperai gramam, Easwara Pattar gramam, Venkachi gramam, Mullakkal gramam and Naanu Pattar gramam. Each settlement has its own deity (gramadevatha) with temple. The temple festivals are jointly conducted by all the six groups together and well attended.

Kavasseri has temples dedicated to Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna and Lord Ayyappa. Parakkad Bhagavathi Temple, a highly revered shrine of Goddess Bhagavathi, is situated in the nearby settlement Parakkad.

By road, Kavasseri is linked with Palakkad and Thrissur. Palakkad Junction Railway Station serves the village.
