Kavand Mela

Kavand Mela is celebrated ten days before Shivteras (during the months of Shravan and Phalgun) when thousands of devotees throng Haridwar to collect holy waters of the Ganges River. The holy water is then offered at the local Lord Shiva temples. During the fair many shops sprung up in the area while Haridwar resounds to the chanting of hymns.
