Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary




Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary is located at Palamaneru in Chittoor District. It covers an area of about 358 sq km and is covered by southern tropical thorn type forests. The Kaigal and the Kaundinya streams flow through the sanctuary. Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary is inhabited by animals and birds such as cheetal, four horned antelope, sambhar, mouse deer, hare, porcupine, wild boar, jungle cat, jackal, sloth bear, panther, jungle fowl, peafowl and elephants.

Palamaneru is about 50 km from Chittoor and 120 km from Bangalore. Best season to visit is October to May. Accommodation is available at forest guest house in Palamaneru.
