Katara is a lethal weapon used in
Kalaripayattu, the martial art of
Kerala. It is a short knife with a pointed blade about one cubit in length. Made of tempered steel, this double-edged, sharp weapon is zigzag in shape.
Katara is held like a hacksaw and the finger guards extend upward to the forearms.
