Karinjagiri

Karinja, better known as Karinjagiri, is one of the charming, tranquil places of Kavalamudur Village in Dakshina Kannada district. The place is noted for its tenth century shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati. The approach road to Karinja is through Kodyamale Forest. Surrounded by rich, green, cool forests and hills, Karinjagiri is a perfect picnic spot. Gajaradigiri is an 800 feet high hill on Karinjagiri with luxuriant green fields, flowers and a mace shaped big lake at its foot. Monkeys are found abundantly around the Sri Karinjeshwara Temple.
