Karangolu




Karangolu is a harvest dance of Karnataka. It is mainly performed by the 'Harijan' community. The dance is a kind of prayer, for attaining prosperity through harvest.

The performers dress up as men, women, old men and women. They also paint their faces and adorn themselves with beads, flowers and leaves and they also wear anklets. They move from house to house performing the dance and receive alms from the houses.
