Kansar Devta's Shrine

Kansar Devta's is an ancient Shiva temple located in Moungri village in Udhampur District. It is situated on the banks of a small rivulet called Kansar, amidst thick forests.

A legend attached with its origin says that once a small stone idol of Lord Shiva was discovered by a villager while farming. Irked by the impediment it was causing to the process, he flung the image into the nearby Kansar stream. Soon calamities and distress started looming over the hapless villagers. Petrified by the change of fortunes, they retrieved the stone structure from the rivulet and a temple was constructed on a nearby hilltop.
