Kannigaparameshwari Temple




Kannigaparameshwari Temple is located at Kotthavalchavadi in Chennai. This temple, built by the Kolla family about 270 years ago, has a Maha Mandapam and a Rajagopuram. The principal deity of the temple is Lord Shiva. There is a lamp with the face of Lakshmi in front of the Maha Mandapam. The temple also has a Manthakasa Mandap where the idols of Lord Ganesh, Nandi and Godhandaramar are kept. Special poojas and Abhisheks are conducted in the Tamil months of Aadi (July-August) and Karthigai (November-December). The festivals celebrated here are Yugadhi, Ramanavami, Vasathautsav, Navratri and Vijayadasami. Buses are frequent from all parts of Chennai to the temple.
