Kanger Forest



Placed near Jagdalpur of Bastar District, Kanger is a dense forest with many wild animals such as crocodiles, pythons, tigers, panthers, hyenas, bear, deer and peacock. It is a tropical, moist deciduous jungle which covers an area of 200 sq km.

The tribes of Kanger, known as Dhurva, depend mostly on the forest products for their livelihood. There is a deep natural cave called Kutumbsar cave with a Shivling inside, where the tribes of Kutumbsar village worship the god during religious occasions. Nearby lies Chitrakot waterfall, which is nearly 30 km away from Jagdalpur.
